Hi my name is Jenny and I am a Plush Artist. I am Canadian, but now living in Los Angeles.
When I was a girl, my Father used to take me to a teddy bear shop in downtown Toronto that specialized in handmade bears! I used to love going there and it was there that I purchased a teddy bear kit. From there I was hooked and now design my own bears. I have been making bears for many years and I love it!
Teddy Bear Artistry is a bit of a dying art form. The traditional bears are fully jointed which means that their head and appendages rotate. The time that goes into making bears is true dedication to the art form. You must be very patient and creative. The best thing about Teddy Bear Artists is that the designs are very unique to each artist.
Now, I have gotten into designing plush as well. It’s just kind of the evolution of stuffed animals. What’s really awesome is that now I am becoming part of a sub-culture of Plush Artists and it’s popularity as an art form is growing. Being published in Stuffed Magazine 2012 and participating in Plush gallery shows is an honor. Tweak 99 on Beverly in West Hollywood and at Crompton Collective in Worcester, Massachusetts. I have some softies in a prop house here in Hollywood and so you will be sure to see these critters in various movies and t.v. shows. NBC has one of my giant lions. I have had my art included in a Nerdist Art Show and will be making some pieces for the upcoming Plush You 2013 in Seattle this fall.
