Christmas crafting

Well, it’s nice to have a break from sewing.  I was working very hard to fill some commissions and to have product for holiday craft fairs.  Now, I have a little break and surprise, surprise – I’m still crafting.  But it’s fun stuff!

Today I made a fox and a border collie.  They are needle felted and were fun to make!  christmas crafting 011

The fox is my favorite, the dog could use some work.

This may be going to a special friend overseas!  I hope she doesn’t see this blog post.

I also have been making a lot of victorian needlepoints for friends.  This one is for my neighbors!

I am going to make a needle felted Reg.  He’s our black cat.  I think I’ll put a Santa hat on him!  Yours in crafting,

Pink and Blue Bears

I have a craft show on Saturday and I have been working on some funky bears.  What do you think?  pink and blue bears 004

This bear makes me want to laugh and giggle for some reason.  His fur is so pink and so great!

Here he is with his blue fur buddy.  Also a bear, but with glasses!  Wayfarer glasses.

Okay, I must continue crafting.  Here is another pic of blue bear.pink and blue bears 007

My husband has the day off and has just offered to make me a caesar drink.  I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea – drinking and operating a sewing machine, but he has assured me that it will make the experience more pleasurable, so I’m going to go for it!

Getting close to Christmas!

I haven’t blogged for at least 5 days.  I like to blog more, but I have been busy!  Last Friday night we went to see Demetri Martin at Largo and it was super fun.  This is the 4th time we’ve seen him – we like him a lot.  I can’t remember exactly all that I have been doing.  I remember a blur that was Christmas shopping that was fun.  On Sunday night, my husband had 5 friends over for a whiskey tasting.  I’m not into whiskey, but it was nice to socialize.  Yesterday, I went to get my haircut, only they were closed because my appointment is today.  Then I had to go to the post office with bedhead.  Barry says this is okay because lots of people that go to the post office look like they just woke up.

Here’s what I’m working on…   These are going to be pink bears.  I love this fur that I picked up on a trip downtown to the fabric district this week.christmas 2012 005

I also made an embroidery for my friend for Christmas.  She opened it last night and she loved it!  christmas 2012 002

This came out well.

Well, I need to get back to crafting and I will leave you with a few other crafts and also my favorite Christmas decoration that I have had since high school!

Today, I am going to get a Christmas tree!  We have decided to get a smaller tree, probably about 3 feet or so and we are going to get one that’s potted!  This way, I will be able to keep it after Christmas by putting it out on the patio with my other plants.  It makes me happy that we don’t have to chop a tree down.

My softies are almost ready to head to the LA MOCA!  I have been sewing a lot this week and I am very happy with the results.  I especially like my finished foxes!

I listen to a lot of music when I sew.  I also listen to podcasts.  I have a few podcasts that are my favorite.  I love WTF with Marc Maron.  It’s always good. I also really like “You Had To Be There”  which is two female comedians, Nikki Glaser and Sarah Schaefer.  But, my most favorite podcast is “The JV Club” with Janet Varney.  It’s a nerdist podcast and she interviews females and they talk in depth about their adolescence.   Janet doesn’t make any  income from this podcast and she invests out of her own pocket, so I wanted to let her know that she is appreciated.  I made these Christmas ornaments to send to her.  (We are both L.A. residents)  The photo is at the top of this post.  I am having difficulty placing it here.  I guess it’s a technical difficulty.

Okay, I’m off to get the tree now and stay tuned for photos of our little tree when it’s decorated.  Yours in crafting,
