Ma Vie C’est Pas Mal!

Hello there!

I am having a wonderful day.  Vernon is finally finished.  He is 30″ high and looking great!  He has really nice feet with classy shoelaces.

There is also Ludlow the Lion and Catcher the Cat.In exciting news… I will be published in an upcoming edition of  “Stuffed” magazine.  I am very pleased to have my softies in “Stuffed”.  It is a great publication full of various softies by many talented Plush Artists.  I will let you know when it is being published.  Thanks to all of my friends for their support and to my wonderful Boyfriend  for his encouragement.  And so, to translate, My Life, it’s Not Bad!

Celebrate!

Well, I am very pleased to announce that my softies are now available at Reform School, a wonderful store in Silverlake. Most of their wares are handmade and by local artists.  It’s pretty much my favorite store,  and I am honored that they like my stuff!  She actually told me that they don’t normally sell stuffed animals, but mine are the exception.  How much better can it get?  Here are some of the gang that you can see there!  Clementine the Cat and Lachlan  the Lion are both quite large!  They are 30 inches from head to toe!  There are also many other smaller softies at Reform School.  My friend Mary Lundquist is also selling her wares there.  She is a wonderful Artist/Illustrator and she has prints, hand-bound journals, organic coffee filters and baby bibs for sale. Here is Mary’s website: http://www.marylundquist.com/ Our wares are not available online, but here is a link to the store if you’d like to check out the kinds of things that they sell.  http://www.reformschoolrules.com/

I was working very hard all week and it is a relief to wake up and be finished a big invoice.  This week is all about exercise and maybe even a bit of retail therapy.  I have some gift cards burning a hole in my wallet. Also, I am trying my hand at puppets this week.  Puppets were one of my most played with toys as a child and they are making a resurgence.

If you are in the L.A. area be sure to visit Reform School.  The owners Tootie and Billie are quite personable and fun and there are really wonderful handmade things inside(including my softies)…..

Mid-February Creativity

Well, it’s the middle of February and I have been neglecting this blog a little bit.  It’s because I have started to get quite busy.  Last weekend was the Silverlake/Art/Craft/Vintage.  I had the pleasure of getting to spend the Market with some other friends who were vending and it was a fun day!  Chalay makes cute and funky jewelry and Mary has some great artwork/prints/cards/ and journals, along with fabric coffee filters that are environmentally friendly.  Silverlake seems to be a challenge.  It’s a great venue, but somehow it doesn’t seem to have great promotion and everyone that I spoke to was disappointed with the attendance.  Mary and I are going to try and share a table next month and downsize our wares to make it more worth our while.

I am very busy crafting away to get ready for a surprise.  I can’t share it with you until next week, but here is a sneak peek at what I am working on.  This first softie is huge at 30 inches high and is affectionately named Lumpy.  He is quite special really!I have also created some foxes!  Good thing the aren’t stuffed yet, because I’m certain that they are full of mischief!

Today is all about raccoons.

We have tickets tomorrow for America’s Got Talent.  It should be interesting.  It’s only about 15 minutes away from us.  We have to wait in line for an hour, then watch it for 5 hours.  I can only imagine the scenario.  Oh, and we are not allowed our cell phones.  I have no problem with not having my cell phone with me.  I did it all the time when I was a kid.  Except when I was a kid, there were payphones everywhere.  Now they practically don’t exist.  Anyway, I can’t bring my camera, I am not allowed to  talk about what I saw, but just use your imagination…

Happy crafting day to me!  Happy Birthday to my nephew, he’s four years old today.  I sent him a stuffed wooly mammoth(I didn’t make it) and an Owly graphic novel.  He loves those.  I can’t believe he’s four already!  Gotta go, my sewing machine is calling!
